Amy Dee Sargent

Amy Dee (Aubin) Sargent, 30, passed away unexpectedly in Falls Church, Virginia, on August 13, 2013. Her husband Justin Sargent, the love of her life, was by her side. Justin and Amy also lost their baby boy, due on December 25, 2013. Amy and Justin were surrounded by their family, including her mother, Pamela Aubin, and brother, John Aubin, and Justin's mother Catherine Sargent, father Thomas Sargent, step-mother Katherine Sargent, and brother, Jason Sargent. As throughout her life, many close friends and colleagues surrounded Amy in her final hours. A native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Amy Sargent graduated from Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School and carried her love of the ocean with her when she moved to Washington D.C. in 2001. While pursuing a B.A. in Political Science from The George Washington University, Amy enjoyed traveling to beaches along the East Coast and actively campaigning for the College Democrats of America. She studied criminal justice and religion as part of her undergraduate work, committing many hours to understanding the power of life, death, and the ongoing pursuit of hope across religions. After completing her B.A. in 2005, Amy took a position at Calibre CPA Group, where she met her future husband. She later moved to the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), where she was working at the time of her death. Amy and Justin married in September 2009 in Clifton, Virginia, surrounded by family and a wide variety of friends from across the United States and around the world. Amy and Justin loved traveling the world and spent much of their time together cultivating strong and enduring friendships. Their love for each other, evident to all who knew them, shone through difficult times, particularly during the loss of Amy's father, John M. Aubin, Sr., in 2006. Amy possessed a passion for music and deep commitment to enriching the lives of those around her, including her colleagues at Calibre and SEIU. Family, friends, and colleagues will miss her beautiful smile, commitment to excellence, quick wit, and ability to quote every line from the film My Cousin Vinny. Amy is survived by her husband Justin of Alexandria, mother Pamela, brother John and his fiancée Heather Merrill, of East Dennis, MA and the Sargent family. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, August 17, at 1:00 PM at Jefferson Funeral Chapel in Alexandria, Virginia. Attendees will wear purple, Amy's favorite color, rather than black.
