Pat Morey

Pat Morey of Alexandria, VA passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Inova Alexandria Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Dennis Morey; loving mom to Sandra Handschin (husband Dan), Rich Morey (wife Holly), and dog Buddy; adoring grandma to Troy and Zack Efthemes, and James, Kate, and Alexander Morey; dear sister-in-law to Deborah and Dave Morey. She was known by many and loved by all who crossed her path. Her infectious smile, warm hugs, and generous nature affected countless people throughout her wonderful life. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and enjoyed singing in the choir at Calvary Road Baptist Church. She made her family and friends feel treasured every day. She poured her whole heart into everyone she met and everything she did. We would be remiss if we did not mention her undying devotion to her beloved Washington Redskins. She will be deeply missed. She was born August 26, 1943 in Washington, D.C. to the late Richard and Nedra Moore. She married her high school sweetheart Dennis, with whom she had just celebrated her 54th wedding anniversary. Her varied career experience reflects her warm and outgoing personalty. Her resume includes Cashier at C&P Telephone Company, Switchboard Operator at Central Charge Bank, General Manager at the Crazy Horse Saloon in Georgetown, and Manager of a Hallmark store. But she had a special love for children. First; her own daughter and son, for whom she stopped working to raise full time. Then, her five grandchildren. And finally, through her work as a teacher's aide at Calvary Road Baptist Church Christian School. A job from which she could never quite bring herself to retire. Visitation will be at Jefferson Memorial Chapel (5755 Castlewellan Dr, Alexandria, VA 22315) on Thursday, October 5, 2-4 and 6-8 pm and at Calvary Road Baptist Church on Friday, October 6, 10-11 am. The service will be at Calvary Road Baptist Church (6811 Beulah St, Alexandria, VA 22310) on Friday, October 6, at 11 am. Interment will follow at Mt. Comfort Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
