Obituary for Paul F. Shaver

On January 28, 2018 in Springfield, Virginia. Son of the late Paul and Phyllis Shaver. Loving husband of 52 years to Patricia O'Connor Shaver; devoted father to Elizabeth (John Blair), Paul Francis Shaver III, and Jennifer (Andrew Graser). Beloved grandfather to Thomas, Michael, Matthew Blair, Jack and Henry Graser.

Paul was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut on June 6, 1941.He is a graduate of Fairfield College Prepatory School and obtained a B.S. in Chemistry from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Paul obtained a Master's Degree in Organic Chemistry from Boston College where Paul and Pat met. Paul was employed for 37 years as a Patent Examiner in organosilicon and organometallic chemistry at the U.S.Patent and Trademark Office.

Paul had a larger than life personality, was wickedly funny and incredibly versed on any subject. His greatest passions were his family, his friends and his NY Giants.Paul was an avid reader, a gardener, loved to cook, and travel the world with friends. Paul spent may years as a volunteer travel soccer coach for all three of his children's teams. He rarely missed one of his grandsons' many sporting events and took great pride in all of their accomplishments.

In keeping with the wishes of the deceased, no services will be held at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made in Paul's name to Fairfield College Preparatory School (, email: or 202-254-4237
