Nancy Lynn Siegal, 77, passed away unexpectedly on April 14, 2026 . A dedicated educator and an advocate for national service, Nancy’s life was defined by her commitment to her community and her unparalleled ability to maintain the meaningful connections that bound her family and friends together. Born on May 18, 1948, in Hartford, CT, Nancy was the daughter of the late Anne (Radville) and Francis Siegal. She grew up in West Hartford, CT, graduating from Conard High School and Lesley University. Nancy began her professional life as a teacher at the Solomon Schecter Day School, beginning a lifelong journey of service to others. Nancy moved to the Washington D.C. area, eventually settling in Alexandria, Virginia. She enjoyed a distinguished and successful career with The Corps Network, the National Association of Service and Conservation Corps. Her work there was more than a job; it was a passion that allowed her to champion the transformative power of service and conservation for young people across the country. Nancy was a pillar of her local community and remained deeply connected to her Jewish heritage. She was an active and devoted member of the Agudas Achim Congregation of Northern Virginia, Hadassah, and various other Jewish organizations. A staunch supporter of the Democratic Party, she was never one to sit on the sidelines when it came to her values. To those who knew her, Nancy was the "keeper of the details." She thrived on making and maintaining connections, always remembering the small milestones and personal touches that others might overlook. Nancy was predeceased by her parents and brother, Philip Siegal. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Judi Siegal; her nephew, Darren Siegal; and her niece, Rebecca Vattuone, along with Rebecca’s husband, Cristian, and their children, Giovanni, Francesca, and Renzo. She also leaves behind a wide circle of cherished cousins and lifelong friends who will miss her warmth and presence. A funeral service will be held at Agudas Achim Congregation with Rabbi Stephen Rein officiating in Alexandria, VA on Friday April 17 at 11:00 AM A graveside funeral service will be held at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery with Rabbi David Small officiating in Wethersfield, CT on Tuesday April 21 at 11:00 AM. Following the interment, family and friends are invited to a meal of condolence at the Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford, CT. Contributions in Nancy's memory can be made to Hadassah, Agudas Achim Congregation of Northern Virginia (Alexandria, VA), or a charity of choice.
