Elizabeth Mary McCabe Mendelson

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and aunt Elizabeth Mary McCabe Mendelson, 65, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025 at her Springfield home with her family by her side. Elizabeth was born on September 23, 1959 in Hackensack, New Jersey to Vincent and Dolores McCabe. Elizabeth was the youngest of three children and adored her older brother, Vincent, and older sister, Dolores Anne. She was a quiet child who would enthusiastically ride her hobby horse around the house. Elizabeth graduated from Immaculate Conception School in Darlington, New Jersey. Elizabeth married Ric Stuart Mendelson in February of 1979. They moved to south Florida and were blessed with six children: Linda, Ric Jr., Bethany, Maria, Elyse, and Paul. Elizabeth was a devoted wife and mother who selflessly dedicated herself to raising six children and nurturing a loving home. She found joy in simple pleasures, especially taking her children to the beach, creating cherished memories along the shore. A woman of deep faith, Elizabeth was a devout Catholic who guided her family in their spiritual journey, ensuring her children received all the sacraments. She was also a passionate advocate for Autism awareness, championing greater understanding and support at a time when it was not widely recognized. Elizabeth was married to Joseph Lee from 1999 to 2001. In April of 2012, Elizabeth married Alfonso Truglio. Their relationship was one of deep companionship and friendship, lasting until Alfonso’s passing in October of 2022. Together, they shared a love for dancing, cooking, and spending cherished time with family. Elizabeth worked at Marshall’s as the District Secretary from 2013 to 2023. She cherished her work family and was treasured in return. She was known for her witty sense of humor and loyalty to her colleagues. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Linda, Ric Jr., Bethany (Danny), Maria (Jonathan), Elyse (John), and Paul (Rafaela); grandchildren Matthew, Taryn, Presley, Adam, Conor, Nora, Alice, Aurora, Penelope, Daisy, Ariel, Jonathan Jr., and Anna; brother Vincent III (Christina); and sister Dolores Anne. She was an aunt and cousin to many. Elizabeth will be lovingly remembered for her vibrant spirit, unique sense of style, and keen wit. A gifted writer with a remarkable way with words, she brought insight and humor to everything she penned. Above all, she was a devoted and constant source of love and support for her family, whose lives were deeply enriched by her presence.
