Conrad Henry Hise

Conrad Henry Hise, 43, was born on July 20, 1980, in Honolulu, Hawaii and passed away on October 30, 2023, in Alexandria, Virginia. Conrad was a loving husband to his beautiful wife, Lauren Baucom Hise. He is survived by his mother, Kathleen Thomas, his father, Henry Hise, his uncles, Thomas Yap, James Yap, and Howard Hise (Jennifer), his aunt Jo-Ann Lung (David Schwartz), his cousins, Kevin Lung, Brian Schwartz, and Tyler Hise (Caroline), and his niece, Sabinne Matsumoto. Conrad was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert J. Thomas, his brother, Lee Matsumoto, and his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Margaret Yap, as well as his paternal grandparents, Genorosa and Graeme Hise. Conrad graduated from James B. Castle High School in Kaneohe in June 1998 and moved to Alexandria, Virginia in the same year. He continued his education at ITT, where he excelled and graduated at the top of his class in Electrical Engineering in June 2011. He met the love of his life, Lauren on February 12, 2005, and won her over with a home-cooked pasta dinner on Valentine’s Day. They were married on June 18, 2011, one week after he graduated from ITT. He discovered his love for cooking and owned and operated a food truck called Aunty Gingah’s in honor of Lauren and her red hair. His menu featured Hawaiian plate lunches. He moved on to opening a restaurant named Momo&Poke specializing in authentic Hawaiian and Himalayan soul foods in August 2019. His customers became his Ohana, especially locals. He used the restaurant to host birthday parties, kanikapila and halau events, watching football games (especially the Dallas Cowboys) and on Saturday nights watching mixed martial arts. He offered special discounts for First Responders and active and retired military. He also ran a successful catering business in the Washington, DC area. In his free time, Conrad enjoyed various hobbies. He loved trolling for rockfish on the Chesapeake Bay, spending time at a sporting gun range, playing four scramble golf tournaments at which he excelled, and exploring different parts of the country attending University of Hawaii road football games with Lauren and his uncles, Tommy and Jimmy. He and Lauren also attended Sunday afternoon Chinese (Cantonese) luncheons and Monday night Indian food dinners when time permitted. A celebration of life to honor Conrad will be held at the Waterford Events Center at 6715 Commerce St., Springfield, VA 22150 on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. Dress is Aloha/Casual attire.
