Virgilio Nicandro Fernandez Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Virgilio Nicandro Fernandez (88), of Fairfax, VA, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2022. Born in Argentina, Virgilio was the biggest Club Atlético Boca Juniors fan. Anyone that knows him, knows there’s not one family or friend gathering that went without him defending his team against their rival, Club Atlético River Plate. Virgilio was an avid cabinet builder. He enjoyed using his hands to create beautiful designs for others to build their homes. He was also very well known for being a food and wine connoisseur. Numerous memories were made in the kitchen with his great-grandchildren while making torta fritas and empanadas. Virgilio took every possible opportunity to make others laugh. However, this usually came with a price of someone being the victim of a jump scare. Not one family gathering will pass where his pranks, or expertise at charades, will be missed, but the family is at peace knowing that he is now with God. Virgilio is survived by his loving wife, Estefania Harrison; sons Johny Flores (Mirta) and Luis Garcia (Vilma); six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Virgilio will be missed by many, but his legacy and memory will live on. The family will receive visitors at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA 22315 on Sunday, May 29, 2022, from 2-6pm.
