Robert Mark Sukol

March 28, 1951 - February 11, 2022

Robert Mark Sukol passed away peacefully in his Springfield, Virginia home at 3:30 PM on Friday, February 11, 2022. He was surrounded by his loving family. Rob lit up the world with his music, warmth, and kindness. His generous spirit profoundly impacted the lives of many, and he will be dearly remembered for his humor, wisdom, and love of family and friends. Rob graduated from Rutgers Law School at age 43 and was employed as an attorney at the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives for 27 years, serving as the principal drafter for the first new U.S. Code title in 83 years and rising to become Deputy Counsel. However, his first love and lifelong passion was music. He played guitar, bass, and piano, and shared the stage with many talented musicians in Pennsylvania, California, and Virginia. He was a dedicated and prolific songwriter and continued producing and recording music throughout his life. Born March 28, 1951 in Philadelphia, Rob was the oldest son of the late George and Marcia Promisloff Sukol. Rob was married to Sara Louise Gulla on May 28, 1979 in Dresher, Pennsylvania. He was predeceased by his brother, David, and nephew, Joshua. Rob is survived by his wife Sara, sons Sean (fiancée Kayla Meyers) and David, brothers Rabbi Eddie (Roxanne) and Todd (Amy), cousins Dena (Zen) and Sherry Sukol, and many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA 22315 on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 2PM.
