    Robert William North

    May 2, 1949 - July 31, 2020

Robert (Bob) William North a resident of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 31, 2020 at the age of 71. He was born on May 2, 1949 in Alexandria, Virginia to Charles William (Bill) North and Eleanor Louise North Bob is pre-deceased by his parents and brother, Jeffrey Lee North. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Carolyn Lindsay North, step-mother Sandra North, brother-in-law Edward Lindsay, nephew Trent Lindsay, niece Meredith Lindsay Wood, and his Florida cousins Linda Moore, Maureen Cooper, Sandra Fairfield, and Joyce Thomas. Bob was always a beacon of friendship and never met a stranger. He was known for his great sense of humor and would strike up a conversation with everyone he met. This served him well in his life-long career in sales. For the last thirty years he sold life insurance and annuities, always wanting to help clients during a difficult time. Bob loved his family and his friends. From Bob and Carolyn’s honeymoon in Mexico, to cruising to Alaska, to helicopter rides to see volcanos in Hawaii, he always loved to travel and was always willing to try new adventures. He was an avid gospel music fan, and was known to drive hundreds of miles to hear a gospel group sing. Many of these trips resulted in life-long friends. Bob and Carolyn’s first date was to a dinner theatre, and he retained the love of live theatre and concerts all his life. Bob was a life-long fan of the Washington Redskins and NASCAR racing. He was a collector of memorabilia of his favorite driver, # 43 Richard Petty. Bob was a military spouse, eagerly learning about military traditions and taking great pride in being part of the military family. Bob was a very special person and lived life to the fullest. Bob was an outgoing person with a God-given gift of always wanting to help someone else. He was known by many as one of the kindest persons ever. He will be missed by family, friends, and all who knew him. The family requests that you considering making a donation in Bob’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 (stjude.org).
