Obituary for Loyola Rosalie Trujillo

Loyola (Rose) Rosalie Trujillo, 68, of Lorton Virginia passed away December 3, 2018 surrounded by family after a long struggle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father Antonio Simon Trujillo, mother Elisa Dominguez Trujillo and granddaughter Eleonore Rose Hutto. Rose is survived by her husband Randy, sister Tina, two daughters Christine and Tracy, son-in-law Damon, and seven grandchildren; Donovan, Jessie, Steven Jr., Skyler, Patrick, Colby and Thomas. Rose was born on August 16, 1950 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Elsie and Tony Trujillo. Born into a devout Catholic family she was proud of the hard work of her father to ensure she received the best education beginning at St. Catherine of Siena and then furthered at Archbishop O’Hara High School. As a strong work ethic ran in her family, Rose then went on to put herself through Park College with a Bachelor of Science degree with distinctions in Management/Human Resources while raising two children. Rose then went on to meet the love of her life Randall N. Miller LTC USMC (Ret.). They married February 14, 1989 and were happily married for 30 years. Through her husband’s career in the Marine Corps and her own prestigious career with the U.S. Government she was able to travel the world to beautiful places as close to home as California and Hawaii and to places as exotic as Thailand and Peru as well as the Pyramids of Egypt. Rose was able to help so many people and touch so many people’s lives during her time working for the U.S. Government. She had many positions and many roles from budget and contracting to strategic planning and manpower. Most notably, as a person of Hispanic descent was her time as Director of Hispanic & American Indian/Alaskan Native Programs for the Department of Defense’s Diversity Management and Equal Opportunity. She won so many awards and accolades over the years that she would have been embarrassed for us to list them all however, her family was most proud of the following; she was honored by NAHFE for Project Eagle preparing Hispanic-Americans to join the ranks of the Federal Senior Executive Services, Certificate of Recognition by MANA for her commitment to Latina Leadership, The Yellow Rose of Texas award which is the highest honor awarded by the Texas Governor to women for their outstanding volunteer and community service and finally, on February 6, 2012, the exceptional distinction of being recognized in the Congressional Record for her years of work as a public servant. While acknowledging this honor she was quoted as saying that she considers her greatest accomplishment to be the raising of her wonderful family. We could not agree more. She has made us all the people we are today and taught us how to raise our children to be strong, independent, people that care for others and put their faith in God. Services will be held at St. Raymond of Penafort on Monday, December 10, 2018. Mass will begin at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Loyola Trujillo’s name to the American Cancer Society.
