Gladys Mae Handy

April 29, 1939 - December 2, 2020

Gladys M. Handy born April 29, 1939 in Portland Oregon passed away in Alexandria, Virginia on Wednesday December 2, 2020 at the age of 81. Loving mother of two sons Richard (Rose) and Dennis (Robin), one daughter Darilyn Kowalik; nine grandchildren, Steven (Heather), Tony, Kimberly, Brett, Tyler, Valerie, Trey, Lizzie and Jake, one much loved great-granddaughter Eden and her beloved dog Mollie. She is also survived by her extended family and many loving friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents Adolph and Lerverne Soucek, two sisters and one brother. Gladys was a Registered Nurse for 35+ years working at Mt. Vernon and Alexandria Hospitals as well as several clinics in the area and volunteering at a consignment store for Inova Hospital. She loved Washington sports, never missing a game, crossword puzzles, solitaire, playing games on her iPad & trying new recipes. She was an amazing cook. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
