September 29, 1942 - December 23, 2021
Frederick Wesley Corbin, Jr. worked quietly, lived quietly, and when called to his eternal resting home, departed quietly on Dec 23, 2021 in Alexandria Hospital with his wife Sandra, of 46 years and family by his side. Frederick was born, reared, and schooled in rural Somerset County, Maryland. During his high school years, he competed in baseball and track and field. Following high school, he joined the United States Army where he served a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. After serving for 11 years in the Army, he worked very hard for 25+ years, before retiring, as a Project Manager from Melwood Services, which supports adults with special needs. Though his siblings may have been in different states, they knew he was “phone call away.” His conversations will be missed and cherished by his children, siblings, and many employees. Dad remembered his humble roots instilled in him by his parents, the late Frederick, Sr. and Mollie Hayward Corbin. After he came to know the Lord, his walk changed and he walked humbly with the Lord. Even with health challenges, he persevered. When asked how he was doing, the response was often “ taking it one day at a time.” He was a homebody. Being around his family brought him much joy and he also enjoyed watching football and movies. When he retired, he quickly learned how to enjoy the great outdoors with his family and became a “certified camper” by his family. Throughout the years, and especially on Christmas Eve, he reminded his family of our blessings, including our blessing of having each other! Cherishing his quiet, inner strength are many; His loving wife Sandra; children Frederica (Rodney), Frederick III (Siham), Joseph, Samantha, and Colleen (Caesar); grandchildren, Jared, Freddie lV and Sorayah. Brother, Weldon Corbin; sisters, Christine Gillette and Jenester Corbin, and multitude of nieces, nephews and friends. His loving siblings Wendall, Floyd, and Naomi preceded him to their eternal resting home. Fred shared what he could with his family and employees. If you wanted a bottle of water, he would hand you six bottles. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation can be made to UNICEF or St. Jude.
