Peggy Crawford Guggolz

Peggy Crawford Guggolz (89) of Springfield, VA, passed away on June 16th, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Douglas Guggolz and her son Richard “Rick” Guggolz. She is survived by her son Gary Guggolz (Tara Dunion), her daughter Lori Walther (Tim), her daughter-in-law Kelly Guggolz, her nephew Kevin Hill, and her grandchildren Bryan Guggolz (Samantha), Regan Guggolz, Brady Walther (Caylie), Madison Walther, Nathan Guggolz, and Kyle Guggolz. She will truly be missed by many. An inveterate Georgia Bulldog fan who never missed a televised game (or a chance to brag about how great her “Dawgs” are), Peggy will be remembered as a loving mother, mother-in-law, and aunt, as well as the kind of Grandmother who always wanted to know every single thing about what her six grandchildren were up to . Born in San Antonio, Texas, Peggy moved to East Point, Georgia with her parents and her sister Miriam and forever after treasured her southern roots. She and her best friend Nora Trimble Blair spent many hours constructing school classrooms and teaching their imaginary pupils. She met the love of her life, her husband Allan at an infamous Georgia Tech fraternity party and went on to marry him on November 30, 1957, after graduating with a degree in Education from the University of Georgia. Peggy and her U.S. Air Force officer husband of 59 years, Al, traveled throughout many states and abroad. They started in Georgia with deployments in Miami Florida, a rural German village, Great Falls Montana, O’Fallon Illinois, Honolulu Hawaii, and finally landing in Northern Virginia. Along the way, she made many opportunities for herself to share her expertise to teach young children, usually 2nd or 3rd graders. She so loved the little (mostly) angels! As an active member of Cameron United Methodist Church, Peggy cherished her time with the United Methodist Women and spent many hours volunteering and helping with numerous church events. There will be a viewing Monday evening June 22 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr, Alexandria, Va. Services will be on Tuesday, June 23 at 1:00pm at Cameron United Methodist Church, 3130 Franconia Road, Alexandria, Va. Reception to follow in the church reception hall.
