Pat Anderson

Patricia Ann (Riley) Anderson passed into her Lord's hands on October 8, 2016 while in Hospice care in Arlington, VA. Born on March 5, 1931 in Great Falls, Montana, her father died when she was 5, leaving her mother, Hazel Riley, to raise her and her brother Richard. After graduation from Great Falls, Montana High School, she attended Montana State University in Missoula, MT where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. At MSU, Pat met her future husband, Tom Anderson. She pinned his 2d Lt bars onto his Infantry officer uniform in 1952. In late 1952, Pat accepted Tom's proposal and they were married in February 1953. After a tour in Korea, Tom was transferred to Japan where she joined him in 1954. Son Gregory Thomas was born to the couple on January 9th, 1956. Keeping her promise to her mother to complete her college degree, she completed her studies while in Japan and received her BA in Business Administration from MSU in March 1956. After a two-year tour in Japan, the family was next posted to Long Beach, California where son Mark Graham was born on October 8, 1957. Pat was the epitome of a wonderful Army wife, who, for over 20 years, managed family finances, schooling, health care issues, auto repairs, doctors appointments, pet crises, boys team sports, etc. while Tom was away on assignments. Change of duty stations became routine with moves to Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Benning, GA, Fort Sill, OK, Fort Rucker, AL, Long Beach, CA, Fort Leavenworth, KS, Carlisle Barracks, PA, Washington, DC, and a wonderful three-year tour in Hawaii. Pat had a very successful 25 year real estate career in Northern Virginia. In 2005, Pat and Tom moved to a senior condominium community in Springfield, Virginia where she loved the social interaction and friendships with her many fellow residents. "Nana" Anderson was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a joy to her hundreds of friends. Pat will be held forever in the hearts of her husband Tom, her son Mark, his wife Caretta and grandson Riley Thomas of Springfield, VA, as well as son Greg, his wife Doreen, granddaughter Katherine Marie and grandson Michael Riley of Pompano Beach, FL A visitation will be held at Jefferson Funeral Chapel 5755 Castlewellan Dr., Alexandria, VA on October 12, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. A date for a memorial service at Fort Myer, and interment at Arlington National Cemetery, will be announced at a later time.
