Melvin Wayne Knight

Melvin Wayne Knight, age 74, of Alexandria, VA passed away Monday, February 21, 2022. He is survived by the love of his life, Mona Knight (wife); sister, Colleen (Benny) Craft; nephews, Rodney Craft, Randy Craft and JW Kincer; nieces, April Corthals and Amber Welch; his great niece and companion Madysen (Baby Jalapeno) Welch and great niece Hannah Craft and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Alfretta Knight; his brothers Roy Lee Knight and Lawrence Knight; and sisters Mary Ann Knight and Sheila Kincer. Wayne was a man that was loved by all and had plenty of love to offer anyone in his life. Wayne loved the Lord. His ability to recite the Bible with the exact verse needed was a gift that will be forever cherished, “It’s just so simple. All you have to do is believe.” He was a proud Vietnam War Veteran who volunteered to serve his country. His love for his country was also demonstrated in his countless hours donated to his local American Legion Post 162. Wayne not only participated in events to serve the community; but also, teamed up with legion members to construct a priceless memorial at the legion that pays tribute to the passion and sacrifices of his fellow Americans. Wayne’s love for his family and friends was a consistent demonstration of countless acts of kindness. He did the small things that he noticed needed to be done without a whisper of complaint. Wayne had a passion for traveling to new and exciting places, creating memories to last a lifetime was at the top of his list because it is all you can take with you across the river. If Wayne couldn’t fix it, no one could. His ability to fix, or construct, any project was unfounded. He had a passion for ensuring everyone around him had everything they needed to be happy and healthy. He never knew a stranger and would always make you feel welcomed. You are loved by many and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know you. We love you, Wayne!
