Lydia C. Esguerra

Lydia C. Esguerra of Dumfries, VA peacefully passed away on June 13, 2026, in Woodbridge, VA at the age of 91. She was surrounded by her children and loved ones at her time of passing. She is the beloved wife of late Romulo "Romy" Esguerra; loving mother of Rommel Esguerra (Jaime) and Vida Esguerra; cherished grandmother of Alexis, Ariana (James), Joseph (Grace), Alexander, and Athan; great-grandmother of Avery. Lydia was born on May 23, 1935 to Isidoro Caperal and Fortunata Caperal in the Bulacan Province in the Philippines. She was the youngest of six children, Agrifina Caperal -Mojica, Francisco Caperal, Emilio Caperal, Ricardo Caperal, Virginia Caperal-Casipe, where they then moved to La Loma in Quezon City. She studied in Banking and Financing and graduated from the Philippine College of Commerce with an Associate's degree in Commerce and continued her education at Far Eastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce in the early 1950s. Lydia married Romulo "Romy" Esguerra on July 9, 1960. The newlyweds lived in Caloocan City until 1974 when the family emigrated to the United States. Once arriving to the United States, they first lived in Jersey City, NJ from 1974 to 1976 and eventually settling in the Northern Virginia area. (Alexandria, Dale City, Dumfries). Lydia worked for INTELSAT, an International Satellite Communications company, from 1978 until she retired in 1995. After she retired, she enjoyed time with her late husband Romy, where they traveled around the world visiting different countries and also frequently returned to their homeland in the Philippines where they planned to retire to. Besides traveling they also enjoyed ballroom dancing and planting flowers in the garden, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, June 27th, at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Dr., Alexandria, VA from 8:45am to 9:45am. Funeral Services will follow at Jefferson Funeral Chapel held by Father Macias Wency D. Serafica on Saturday, June 27th from 9:45am to 10:45am. Interment will follow at Mount Comfort Cemetery, 6600 S. Kings Hwy., Alexandria, VA.
