In Memoriam: Leslie Virginia Dunne It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Leslie Dunne, a very loved member of our family. Leslie fought a brave battle against recently diagnosed multiple myeloma and peacefully left us on September 23, 2023. We will never forget Leslie’s wonderful character, the beautiful person she was inside and out, her compassion, humor, and kindness. Leslie was adored by her family, friends, work colleagues and in her community. She was an extremely generous person who gave unconditionally to all the lucky ones who were in her life. Throughout her life, Leslie dedicated herself to learning and education, including earning a Linguistics Degree and Master’s Degree in public administration, as well as success in pivotal roles and experiences in consequential organizations, including Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies (HMHB) and Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM). Her legacy of dedication, kindness, and professionalism will forever be remembered. Additionally, Leslie also completed work assignments as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Africa and Missionary Work in Haiti. Wherever she was and whatever work she did, Leslie was always impactful and made a difference in the world. It wasn’t just the importance of the work and the missions she was involved with, but also her unique ability to display an always cheerful disposition and consistently a very trusted person in all situations. Leslie devoted herself and her vast expertise to a lifetime of service and helping others in small and big ways. Leslie is survived by her 15-year-old son, Evan, who was the most important person to her and the center of Leslie’s world. Out of all the incredible experiences Leslie had in her lifetime, perhaps the most defining was being a mother to Evan. Evan lit up Leslie’s life like no one else did and she had more purpose and love than ever before. She also instilled a sense of adventure into the many activities that she arranged with Evan and their relationship was very special. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023. Leslie was born in New York, daughter of Bob and Joan Dunne and one of seven children. Let us remember Leslie for her remarkable contributions and keep her son Evan in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult period. She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. She had enormous integrity and always took the high road and kept a happy demeanor and positive attitude. Leslie was God centered, and never lost her faith no matter what she was facing. She had a genuine heart and a generous soul. She was a bright light and will be in our hearts forever. May her light lead the way for all of us. A Gathering will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 2PM, followed by a Memorial Service, at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA 22315.
