G. Lloyd Knight Our precious father, grandfather, and friend, Gearry Lloyd Knight, Jr., of Springfield, Virginia, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on May 26, 2009. Born on October 25, 1925 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Lloyd was married to his beautiful bride, Marjorie Stanton Knight, for nearly 52 years. Marjie went on to be with her Lord on May 4, 2007, and has now welcomed her beloved mate Home. A veteran of the Korean War, Lloyd is the father of five grown children and their spouses: Kimberly & Reg Wayland, Kelly & Jim Prior, Kerry & Brian Tanis, Kristy & David Turner, and Kirby Knight. He is survived by eleven precious grandchildren: Bijan, Shayan, Lauren, Rebekah, Melissa, Gregory, Caroline, Courtney, Cameron, Austin, and James, and his twelfth grandchild, Michelle, is now reunited with him in Heaven. A graduate of Purdue University and George Washington University School of Law, Lloyd’s career as a patent attorney spanned more than 50 years, and he made a significant impact on the field. He had a heart for training new patent attorneys, particularly those from Japan, and he and his wife delighted in their associations with numerous Japanese friends over the decades. Lloyd and Marjie enjoyed traveling together all over the world, for business and for pleasure. Lloyd has also been involved in music much of his life, playing the trumpet, leading church choirs and orchestras, and enjoying concerts with Marjie and friends. Lloyd’s favorite hymn was “Because He Lives, I Can Face Tomorrow,” and that’s exactly how he lived his life. His love for his Lord and for his family was evident in everything he did. After his beloved Marjie passed away, Lloyd took it upon himself to continue her outreach ministry through sending out cards for every occasion. Lloyd has touched so many lives all over the world and will continue to do so even now. Dad, Granddaddy, Lloyd, Mr. Knight, what an example you have been to all of us. Well done, good and faithful servant. You will be greatly missed every day, but you will forever remain in our hearts. We love you dearly! Relatives and friends may call at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA (just south of the intersection of Franconia Road and South Van Dorn), Sunday, May 31, 2009, 5 to 7. Memorial service at Greenspring Chapel, 7420 Spring Village Drive, Springfield, VA, Monday, June 1, 2009, 11AM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made payable to Columbia Baptist Church, 103 W. Columbia Street, Falls Church, VA 22046, with checks designated for the Lloyd Knight Memorial Fund.
