Elizabeth Ann Wease

On Tuesday, June 19, 2018, Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Wease, passed away at the age of 72 after bravely battling pancreatic cancer since March 2018. Betty was born and raised in Laurel, MD but lived most of her life in Alexandria, VA. Betty is survived by her husband of 39 years, Kenneth Wease, son Edward Dustin (Jane), daughter Brandi Wease Vasquez (Oscar), sisters Grace (Jim) and Ethel, brothers Joe (Joanne), Mike (Veronica), Steve (Marcia), and Jimmy (Gigi), her grandchildren Jimmy Frey (Marissa), Bryce, Peyton, and Ashton Dustin, great-granddaughters Lylah Dustin and Joslyn Frey. She is predeceased by her son James “Tom” Dustin, sister Donna, mother Annie Dustin, and grandparents Grace and Thomas Connell. Whenever in need of unconditional love, Betty gave it. She was always the rock and biggest supporter of her family in the good times and the bad. She is known for her love of all animals; whether taking in countless new pets, feeding homeless animals, or making donations to the local animal shelter, Betty loved all God’s creatures. One holiday season she started working part time in the garden center at Walmart and made so many close friends she continued working there for 15 years! She had many regular customers that would come in to just say hi to her and chat. Betty had a very green thumb even before working in the garden center. Every summer she filled her backyard with numerous potted and planted flowers that blossomed and grew so large and vibrant it was hard to believe it without seeing them and enjoying their beauty. Betty was also an explorer, she loved to travel to new places with her family and see all the world had to offer. She will be forever remembered and loved by her family, extended family, and many dear friends. A viewing for Betty will take place Friday, June 29 at Jefferson Funeral Chapel from 2 -4 p.m. and from 6 – 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Internment at Mount Comfort Cemetery with a reception to follow at Mount Vernon Country Club. Flowers may be sent to Jefferson Funeral Chapel Donations may be made in Betty’s name to Animal Welfare League of Alexandria “I love you because you are you”
