Dorothy Louise McKee, age 88, passed away peacefully at her home on August 10, 2026. She leaves behind a family who loved her deeply and many cherished memories that will continue to live on through those whose lives she touched. Dorothy was born on May 17, 1938. Throughout her 88 years, she experienced a lifetime of memories, love, family, and friendships. She will be remembered for the special place she held within her family and the love she shared with those closest to her. Dorothy is survived by her only child DeeJay Whitt and son-in-law David Whitt and brothers Randy, Marty, and John Rowles. Her grandchildren Jeannie Whitt, Donielle Oliver (Tim), Christina Whitt, Katie Nelson (Jason), Amanda Dileo (Tony) and Great grand-children: Timmy, Michael, Kyla, Alex, Mary, Kasey, Haley, Leah, Layla, Noah and her two great-great grandchildren Jack-Jack and Sean. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Donald Jay Mckee and her brother Eugene Howell. Family and friends are invited to gather together to celebrate Dorothy’s life on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Jefferson Funeral Home. The family hopes to fill the service with purple as a beautiful tribute to Dorothy while also recognizing the countless individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by Alzheimer’s. Flowers may be sent to Jefferson Funeral Home in Dorothy’s memory. For those who would prefer to make a memorial contribution, donations may be made in Dorothy’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association to help support Alzheimer’s research, care, education, and advocacy. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has offered prayers, love, care, and support throughout Dorothy’s journey and during this difficult time. While saying goodbye is never easy, Dorothy’s family will carry forward the memories created throughout her 88 years of life.
