Diane Pray

Diane Elaine Pray (Eck), age 57, originally from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, passed away at her home in Alexandria, Virginia on May 19, 2017 after a courageous, but unsuccessful battle with cancer. A loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and aunt and a dear friend, Diane will be remembered as that special someone who saw the good in all around her and how she made the world a better place as a result. A passionate advocate for inclusion, tolerance, and the arts, Diane's "kind heart" and "warm spirit" will be missed. She is survived by her husband John Jr, her son Ian Donnelly, her parents John and Roberta Eck, her sisters Lori Schmader and Janice Bigelow and their families, her stepson John III, his wife Lisa and their son John IV (Jack) and stepson Joshua. As her husband is a retired military officer, Diane will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery August 3, 2017 at 10:00am, with a reception to follow from 11:30am – 1:30pm at Clyde's at Mark Center, (1700 North Beauregard St, Alexandria, VA 22311). For the family members and friends attending the reception, I plan to make brief remarks at 12:00pm, but you are welcome to come by any time from 11:30am to 1:30pm. A number of you have inquired about making a donation in Diane's memory. After conferring with her family, I would like to present three options: 1) Diane actively volunteered with the Catholic Charities Thrift Shop in Alexandria, VA. Those wishing to donate to this particular charity, please mail your check made out to "Catholic Charities" with "Alexandria Thrift Shop" listed on the memo line to me at my home address. I will collect all the checks and present them to the Thrift Shop director as a collective donation. 2) Diane believed deeply in helping military families and felt strongly that Operation Homefront delivered on our promise to support this very special and deserving group of our fellow citizens.
