Demetrios Petros Demetriou

Demetrios Petros Demetriou, who was born in Karavas Cyprus on December 24, 1947, passed away quietly in his home on March 30, 2017, surrounded by his loving wife of 44 years, Androulla Demetriou and their children. He is survived by his wife and adoring children, Elpida (Bruno), Petros (Brooke), Lambros (Maria) and grandchildren Angela, Demetrios, Petros Jr., Penelope and Demetrios. Demetrios is also survived by brothers Andreas, Costandinos, Savvas, Vasilis and sisters, Eleni and Maria. His parents and brother Bandelakis predeceased Demetrios. Demetrios held many important roles in his family as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, godfather and hero to many. As a core member of his community and the glue of his family he touched the lives of immeasurable people and showed the world, through his own example, of what it means to be a loyal provider and protector to those you love. Demetrios was as honest as they come. He treated all people equally and his personality never wavered. He showed no bias no matter who he was with. He was kind and gentle to anyone -- a stranger, a friend and all. He fought for and survived many losses in his lifetime and throughout everything he proved repeatedly that with strong values, hard work and love you can make this world a better place. Demetrios was a man so resilient and esteemed that when he had something to say you wanted to sit down to listen to his meaningful philosophies. His words of wisdom were for the sole purpose of making us all better people. His words were from experience, his heart, and an understanding of life that is lead with love. Demetrios was raised in the beautiful town of Karavas, Cyprus, the youngest of 8 children. He often shared his cherished stories of growing up alongside his siblings on their father's orchard, always working hard to support the family. A happy time in a small, vibrant village where the simple things in life were the most important. Demetrios held these memories dear. Demetrios met his wife, Androulla, 54 years ago at a young age. He knew from the moment he saw her that he would marry her and spend the rest of his lifetime building a family full of love and happiness… and that is what he did. He fought for the things he cared about. He defended his village and family during the war of Cyprus, fighting for the only life they knew. Forced out of their homes, they came to America with nothing. Duty, decency, reliability, honor, dignity and respect are all qualities that Demetrios held in high esteem and practiced daily during his time on earth. He was serious and disciplined, and through hard work he overcame obstacles and built a business to support his family. Through his family we will always know the man he was. In his wife we will see the most undying of loves. They were inseparable and the type of couple which only dreams are made of. In his daughter you see his sweet caring nature, always ready to take care of the family. In his eldest son you see his passion of business, his passion to succeed in order to support the ones he loves. And in his youngest son, his passion to build and grow the things around him. Always looking for a way to make our surroundings better. In all his children you will find a unified front, compassion and upmost respect of family and loved ones. We are forever thankful for the honor of being in Demetrios Demetriou's presence and receiving his firsthand teachings on the values of life. His wisdoms will guide us for generations to come. Among many things Demetrios was well known for his beautiful words and the speech's he made when large groups gathered. Even on his final day Demetrios found strength to share one last speech. Here are Demetrios Petros Demetriou's last words to his family: "To my wife; she is the best wife I could ever ask for. I love you. One day in time, we will get married again, this will happen, things happen. I will see you sometime soon. Don't worry about it, you are going to be somewhere and I am going to be somewhere. Don't worry, we're going to be together again and again and again. I love you, don't worry, don't worry, I will make sure I will look all over for you, don't worry. I will make sure I will look all over to find you, don't worry about it." "I'm going to watch all over, I'm going to watch everyone." "So, I see you my family. Ok boys and girls, bye-bye, take care.
