Daniel Joseph Callison

Daniel Joseph Callison passed away on November 27th, 2023 with his mother and daughter by his side. Dan was born November 22, 1981. Son of Madeline Day and Kelly Callison, and brother to Bryan Callison. Dan was a happy and playful young boy. During his early years he moved around the country with his family as part of his father’s Coast Guard postings. Despite attending different schools, he would easily make friends and build new relationships. He was always passionate about bringing people together and helping friends in any way he could. Dan attended Holy Spirit School and Bishop O'Connell Catholic High School where he met Erick Bautista who would become one of his closest friends, the best man at his wedding, and Godfather of his daughter. After high school, Dan attended NoVa Community College where he befriended many of the members of the Hispanic Student Union. Through the relationships he created there, he found a group of friends that would continue to be a part of his life, from attending wedding celebrations, kids' birthday parties, and regular weekend gatherings. It's during this time that he met his wife, Laura, moved to Stafford, Virginia and had their child Eliana. While in Stafford his welcoming nature attracted yet another group of friends in the Woodstream community, and he eventually became a part of the HOA board. He regularly DJ’d parties for friends and did several public events in the community, being able to express his deep love of music. For Dan, the music was also a way to connect with the world around him. He saw himself and the life he lived in lyrics. As his daughter grew up, he shared his love of music with her—taking guitar lessons together, collaborating on playlists and even attending concerts together. Dan was also passionate about sports. On any day of the week, you could find him reading about his favorite sports teams, playing fantasy football, or sharing a TV with a group of friends as they cheered, ate and drank together. He shared this love of sports with his daughter Eliana, inspiring her to play on multiple teams, Dan coached her Braddock Road Youth Club soccer team for multiple years. Family and friends were the heart and soul of Dan's nature. He cherished the bonds of friendship and loved nothing more than creating lasting memories with loved ones. His outgoing nature brought people together, fostering a sense of joy, unity, and a shared love for life. Dan had a heart filled with love and kindness. He had a natural ability to uplift others, offering support, and a shoulder to lean on during challenging times. His spirit was accompanied by a genuine warmth that touched the lives of many. As we bid farewell to our beloved Dan, let us remember the joy and laughter he brought into our lives. A celebration of Dan's life will be held on December 10, 2023 at Jefferson Funeral Chapel in Kingstowne, Virginia from 3-7pm. Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church to follow on Monday December 11, 2023 at 11am. Dan’s daughter cared deeply about his health and she would like to raise awareness about an area of public health that is important to her, the risks of smoking and tobacco consumption especially among her peers.
