Cindy Shuet Fun Tse

Cindy Shuet Fun Tse of Alexandria, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022. She was predeceased by her parents, Gim Shang Wong and Mei Sun Wong, and her sister, Suet Ha Der. Cindy is survived by her husband, “Tony” Wing Cheong Tse; son, Hubert Tse (wife, Kim Homer); daughter, Sabrina Tse (husband, Nick Snowdon), grandchildren (Isabelle Tse, Jack Snowdon, Adam Snowdon, Miles Snowdon, Oliver Snowdon, and Tatum Homer-Dibble); mother, Mei Kam Wong; sisters, Shuet Fay Yee and Ivy Wong; brothers, Barry Wong and Harry Wong. Cindy was born January 12, 1949, in Hoy San, Tham Seh, Nam Jap, China. She immigrated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada when she was 16 years old from Hong Kong to be closer to family. As a student, Cindy enjoyed reading books and loved to write. After a brief courtship when she was in high school, Cindy married “Tony” Wing Cheong Tse when she was 19 years old and the family grew to include Hubert and Sabrina Tse within three years. Cindy and Tony were married for 54 years and had a relationship that was based on love, respect, and encouragement for one another and the family. Their priorities in life were always family, emphasizing the importance of education, and providing opportunities for disadvantaged people. Cindy was the consummate partner and supported Tony’s passion as an entrepreneur and independent businessman in the restaurant and grocery store business in Calgary and Alexandria, Virginia for over 40 years. In time, she developed into a strong businesswoman herself with excellent communication and managerial skills to work the “front of the house” in all of their restaurants. Cindy was motivated, displayed an incredibly strong work ethic, and was highly independent. She was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren, and their numerous accomplishments in school, sports, and careers. This was evident when Cindy made comments stating that “she had done a good job as a farm girl” in raising us. Our successes were a testament of her parenting skills. She pushed us to be better and cared for us when needed. Cindy had an extremely kind heart; she made everyone feel welcome and always made sure others were well fed and taken care of before herself. She treasured her grandkids and especially enjoyed cooking for them and traveling with them. Cindy loved traveling. She has visited Hawaii, China, France, Spain, and Taiwan, to name a few destinations. Cindy also enjoyed cooking, shopping, tasting new cuisines, and being exposed to different cultures. She was able to maintain these hectic experiences and schedules by practicing her famous power naps, as many family vacation pictures have captured and documented this envious skill. Cindy was the glue that bonded our family together. She will be sorely missed by all. While there is much pain and sorrow for the sudden passing of Cindy Tse, we are grateful that she touched all of our lives. Friends and family are welcome to gather for the viewing on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 3:00PM-5:00PM and 7:00PM-9:00PM at Jefferson Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will be held the following day, Monday November 7, 2022 starting at 10:30AM.
