Charles Patrick Sultzbaugh

Charles Patrick Sultzbaugh, "Patrick", 46 of Alexandria passed away Tuesday August 12, 2014. He leaves behind his wife Cheryl (Pieski) Sultzbaugh and son Bryce Cameron Sultzbaugh, his mother Diana Cameron of Alexandria, his brothers Porter Sultzbaugh of Las Vegas Nevada, and Mark Sultzbaugh, of Ohio, his sister Mindy Sultzbaugh of Ohio, and many he called Brother. Pat began his career with the United States Army, Charlie Company, 3rd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment in Ft. Ord California in September 1987. The Manchu Warriors were deployed to Egypt where he said "It's the most beautiful place in the World". He proudly served during Desert Shield, Desert Storm and in Panama. He earned the Army Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Operation Just Cause), Multinational Force Observers Medal, the Marksman Badge and the Combat Infantryman Badge. His service to our Country ended Honorably in 1993. Pat inspired us through his music. He picked up his first guitar at the age of 13 and never faltered from strumming the acoustic. When Pat began his career in the United States Army he brought his love of music with him. He never failed to entertain his brothers of 3/9 MANCHU with tunes and teach them a string or two. Pat continued to follow his passion for music after his service with the Army and began putting his melodies to tape, eventually becoming a founding member of The Wrecking Crew. He played rhythm guitar and sang lead vocals. Pat had many musical influences, Kiss was by far the largest and in a jam he would say "WWPD", What Would Paul Do? His biggest fan was his son Bryce who will follow his father's musical foots steps with a pair of sticks, "Our Little Drummer Boy". Pat was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins, Washington Capitals, and the Washington Nationals. Hail to the Redskins was his Sunday theme, win or lose. As a young boy Pat played baseball at Woodlawn Little League and eventually became a fixture at Bryce's games. He could be found in the dugout keeping the scorebook and entertaining the kids. Pats greatest pride was his son Bryce. He has passed his talents and passion for music to his son who will continue to rock the world through his drumming. Bryce will always be the light in his Dads eyes. Pat believed "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away." Relatives and friends may call at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA 22315 on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 3 - 5pm. Funeral service will follow at Jefferson Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Woodlawn Little League or VFW.
