Chanchai Komol

Chanchai Komol (77) of Alexandria, VA passed away peacefully and was surrounded by his beloved family in the evening on Tuesday, March 24, 2026. Loving husband to Surmsiri Komol; beloved father to Rose Komol and Nikki Komol; father-in-law to Tony Kee, grandfather to Isabella Kee and Caterina Kee. He will truly be missed by many of his friends and family. Chanchai was born on May 22, 1948, in Chachoengsao, Thailand. His father, Thome Komol, passed away when he was a little boy and was brought up by his mother, Yim Nophaket, along with his two sisters and three brothers. He came to the United States at the age of 18 with his older brother, Wanchai Komol, to further their educations and explore the great opportunity this wonderland has to offer. In the early 1970s, he earned an associate degree from Northrop University in Los Angeles, California. Thereafter, he had many careers running a clothing factory in Los Angeles, restauranteur in Las Vegas called Komol Kitchen, and finally working for a pharmaceutical company in Maryland before he retired in 2018. During his career, he also helped with his late brother, Wanchai Komol who later became an entrepreneur, run his enterprise which includes farming, trucking, construction, and mining businesses in their hometown back in Thailand in the 1980s. In his later years, his granddaughters became one of his higher priorities. He paved the way for his daughter Rose with an honorable career with the U.S. government. Caterina attending Thomas Jefferson High School of Science and Technology, one of the top prestigious high schools in the U.S. and Isabella, who recently got accepted into George Washington University in the Data Science Program focusing in Bio Technology, were his proudest moments in his life. As for his dining preferences, he always has an exquisite taste in different cuisines and a huge appetite for Maryland crab cakes. When it comes to sports and music, he was an avid golfer and attended PGA tours in the past. He also loved watching football, basketball, baseball games, boxing, horse races, and concerts in different venues. He liked going to Atlantic City. One of his favorite moments was watching Elvis Presley perform in Las Vegas. Relatives and friends will be received at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, Wednesday, April 1, 2026, 4-7PM.
