Bniam Yeshigeta Wondimneh (Haile Gabriel)

Mr. Bniam Yeshigeta Wondimneh, age 41 of Alexandria, VA departed us on July 13th, 2021. Bniam was born on October 23rd, 1979 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to Mr. Yeshigeta Wondimneh Gebrekidan, and Ms. Rosa Bahta. As a young boy, Bniam lived in Accra Ghana with his family before immigrating to the United States in 1988. There he and his family settled in Northern Virginia, residing in Arlington and Alexandria, Virginia. He is survived by his mother, Ms. Rosa Bahta, his daughters Jasmine age 14, Kristen age 6, and Thrice age 1 and his siblings Alem, Senaite, Bethlehem, Abyi, Isaias, and Edan. Growing up Bniam was a great brother and loving son. He was protective, fun loving and enjoyed playing soccer. He was playful and was always up for an adventure. He always found ways to make us laugh and had an infectious smile that melted your heart. Bniam attended Mount Vernon High School in Alexandria, Virginia. As a student, Bniam was very talented in art, Technical Education specifically, carpentry, metalwork and created many tools and gifts. Upon completing his secondary education Bniam went on to study and practice in several trades including, Stone Masonry, Auto Mechanics, Landscaping, and Residential and Commercial Construction. In the early 2000s, Bniam worked for TA Sullivan & Son as a Stone Artist, he was proud of his work at Arlington National Cemetery, and several D.C. government buildings, and federal buildings and national museums. In 2007, while working as a Stone Artist, Bniam and Natasha Mckenna welcomed their first daughter, Jasmine. And in 2015, he and Katina Marshall welcomed their daughter, Kristen and later welcomed their youngest daughter Thrice in 2020. He was a devoted father and loved spending time with his children and shared his love for bike riding. Bniam was proud to be Ethiopian and Eritrean and enjoyed learning about his history. He enjoyed music, traveling and family time. Bniam was also spiritual and loved God. Bniam was a great gift to us all, he taught us how to hope, forgive and most of all how to love and we will miss him greatly.
