Anthony Joseph Brothers

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony Joseph Brothers, a devoted husband, father, brother, friend, and true American hero, on Friday, November 22, 2024. Tony’s final moments were peaceful, marked by the quiet dignity he carried throughout his life, with his beloved wife Becky by his side. Tony, born January 6, 1968, is survived by his wife Becky, his children Greyson and Sienna, his brother David and wife Courtney and their children Kai, Declan and Bailey. Tony Brothers lived a life of dedication and service. He began his academic training at the University of California, San Diego and attended the Uniformed Services University School of Medicine. Tony spent 24 years in the U.S. Air Force training and working as an orthopedic surgeon, saving lives and serving his country with courage and compassion, including two tours in Afghanistan and three years as a flight surgeon flying in F-11 and F-16 fighter jets. After retiring from the Air Force at Eglin AFB, he continued his orthopedic practice in the local communities and with Andrew’s Institute/Baptist Hospital. Tony was admired not only for his exceptional skill but also for his calm demeanor and commitment to his colleagues and patients. Beyond his military career, Tony was a devoted family man. He and Becky, his wife of nearly 30 years, built a life together filled with love, laughter, and mutual respect. Becky’s grace as a competitive equestrian complemented Tony’s disciplined, strong spirit, creating a partnership admired by all who knew them. Tony’s greatest pride and joy were his children, Greyson and Sienna. Greyson is pursuing a master’s degree in computer science while working at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, specializing in artificial intelligence. Sienna continues in competitive horseback riding and training based in Santa Barbara, having graduated with a degree in sociology and business administration from UCSB. Tony was at peace knowing his children were so loving and grounded. Tony’s battle with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer was met with the same resilience and grace that defined his life. Even as his health declined, he found strength to lift weights, walk outdoors, and enjoy precious moments with loved ones. His fighting spirit and the love surrounding him were, as one doctor described – “nothing short of miraculous”. Tony’s life will be celebrated in 2025 with a memorial at Arlington National Cemetery, a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much in service to his country and community. Until then, his family and friends find solace in the countless memories and the profound impact he had on their lives. “Tony, you will be deeply missed, but your spirit lives on in the lives you touched.” Rest in peace.
