On Monday, May 8, 2017, Richard Ferlauto, 60, loving husband to Hillary Horn and father to Max and Lucia, passed away in his sleep. He is also survived by his parents Rochelle and Ed, his brother Steven and his sister Diana and her husband Tom Dalsimer.
Rich was a pioneer in the area of socially responsible investing. Rich began his career as a community organizer and affordable housing activist. He later worked for union rights and rose to the position of Director of Corporate Governance and Pension Investments for AFSCME. He also helped launch the Office of Investments at the AFL-CIO. In addition, Rich served as a Deputy Director at the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
Most recently, Rich co-founded the 50/50 Climate Project which persuades corporate boards to respond to the challenges of climate change. Rich co-authored two books on affordable and employer-assisted housing and was often in the media discussing values based investing.
Rich was a Renaissance man who loved jazz and folk music, theater, organic gardening and vegetarian cooking, with a passion for Neapolitan pizza made in backyard oven that he built. Most of all he loved his family.
