Jane Frances Bury

September 6, 1950 - May 21, 2017
Born in Maryland
Resided in Springfield, VA

Jane Frances "Cardegna" Bury, beloved and caring wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on May 21st, 2017 in Fairfax, Virginia, after a short illness.

Born September 6, 1950, to Peter A. and Mary T. Cardegna, Jane was raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Following high school at the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore she attended St. Joseph's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland, earning a B.S. degree in Nursing. At college, she met Stephen Bury, the love of her life, and married him on December 30th, 1972, which began her journey following Steve's Navy career.

Jane loved steamed crabs, the band Chicago and, of course, the Baltimore Orioles.

Over the years, Jane acquired many job titles: nurse, Navy wife, Navy mother, clinic aide and transcript secretary. But her greatest roles were that of "Mom" and "Nana."

Affectionately nicknamed "Saint Jane" by her children, she was truly a selfless woman, devoted wife and mother giving everything to her family. Jane was the glue that kept everyone together.

She leaves behind so many who loved her deeply and depended on her greatly. Especially her husband, two sons, her daughter, four grandchildren, her brother and sister, her mother-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, daughters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, cousins and those dear friends who were as close as family.
