Obituary for Benjamin J. Loret

Benjamin J. Loret Col USAF (Ret.)
On Sunday, September 24, 2017, Col. Loret passed away, at age 91, from Parkinson’s at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He was a local resident for over 50 years and most recently resided in Springfield. Born in Yonkers, NY, he was raised in New York City, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy and served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years as a jet fighter pilot, a manager in research and development of missile and space systems and as commander of a tri-service military organization, which provided computer support to the World Wide Military Command and Control System. He was awarded the Legion of Merit at his retirement upon completion of this final assignment.
Following retirement, Col. Loret served as a consultant and in executive management capacity for several local area corporations providing management information systems and analyses for various U.S. civilian federal government agencies.
Col. Loret is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Naylor Loret; children, Karen McNamara (Mac), Kim O’Callahan (Jerry), Chris Loret and Kellee McLean (Andrew); 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment will take place, at a later date, at Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
