Funeral Director: Robert Evans

Robert Evans

I was raised in Oakland, Maryland. My hobbies include western horsemanship, hunting, and outdoor activities. I moved away from the country, for more opportunities here in the Greater Washington Area. My goal in funeral service is to provide a personal and professional service to families in need. When a death occurs it is a difficult time in one's life and that is why it so important to treat families like family. We live and work in such a rapid paced environment here in the Metro area, it is nice to be able to offer a service that may remind others of home. My travels and experiences have affected me greatly as a business professional and person. I strive to continue to provide professional family service to other families that need help during a difficult time.

Funeral Director: Cory R. Evans

Cory R. Evans

I grew up in Annapolis, Maryland where I enjoyed many years of being so close to the Chesapeake Bay. Later, I attended DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. I was very active in many programs; wrestling being the most prominent of them all. After graduation, I moved to Denver, Colorado and received my Bachelor Degree from Regis University. I am an outdoorsman at heart and Colorado will always be a place I call home.
I moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to attend mortuary school at The Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. I never thought I would be living in Pittsburgh, but it was a great experience. My father attended school there 30 some years earlier and it was a special feeling continuing the legacy.
I have worked at a number of funeral homes in my career and have finally found my place as a funeral director at Jefferson Funeral Chapel. I find great purpose working for a family-owned funeral home that allows me to help the families we serve as my own.

Funeral Director: Aaron N Charlton

I was born in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, a small suburb of Pittsburgh. At a young age, I developed many interests including, hockey, bowling, trivia and most of all, helping people in need. At 17 years old, I knew that I had a calling to serve my community as a funeral director. Immediately following high school, I attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. After graduating in 2006, I attended Point Park University where I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree, with additional focus in small business management and psychology.
The same year, I moved to Maryland to serve a funeral service apprenticeship. As a licensed funeral director, I served Montgomery County, Maryland for more than 4 years, until an opportunity became available at Jefferson Funeral Chapel to serve in Virginia in late 2011.
Today, I enjoy becoming part of this community. Maintaining my same interests, I participate in both a bowling and a trivia league, enjoy going into the city to watch sporting events and am honored with every opportunity to serve others.

I was born in Morgantown, West Virginia. I moved to the Greater Washington Area as a teenager and haven't looked back. I love my family and where I came from, but I'm a city girl at heart. I met my husband in Silver Spring, Maryland and started my family. I am proud to say my son is here helping serve our community. Family businesses can be stressful; but it is a wonderful experience that I wouldn't want to change. I enjoy caring for our horses, vacation time at the beach, and spending time with family.

Community Care Coordinator: Wayne Jenkins

Twenty years ago my family and I relocated from Nashville, Tennessee to Alexandria. We quickly adopted Northern Virginia as our home. Serving families in this area has been my passion ever since. Jefferson Funeral Chapel specializes in family care; it is my pleasure to be on this fine team. I look forward to serving you as well. Married to Carolyn, we have two adult children and one grandson. Outdoor activities such as biking, hiking, gardening and swimming are my choices of recreation.

Receptionist: Nancy Cunningham

As a military brat, my family moved a bit but I was mostly raised in Northern Virginia. I graduated from high school in Fairfax County and attended college in DeLand, Florida. From there I met and married my husband, traveled extensively with his job with the airlines only to end up back in Virginia 25 years later. We have raised two children and still delight in traveling and staying active with our church and community. We enjoy both water and mountain activities either fishing, hiking or taking our black lab on new adventures.

At Jefferson Funeral Chapel I am richly blessed to be a part of the kindness, compassion and respect shown to families we serve during difficult times. The team here truly is extraordinary and caring in all they do to set themselves apart.
